First Sundays Mindfulness Walk

The first Sunday in February was cold and gray, but 15 brave souls congregated at the Swan Trail by the Bedens Brook Bridge on Opossum Road to open their senses to the elements. The mindfulness walk was led by MFOS board member and co leader of Princeton Insight Meditation, Marty Elliott Pratt. We were all amazed to learn that by paying close attention to the feel of the air on our skin, the sounds of rain on the dry leaves and birds in the trees, the sights of moving water in the brook and the subtle colors in the tangles of bushes, we didn’t mind the cold or the wet. Instead, we felt our hearts open to the beauty of the natural world. We felt calmer and more nourished after our mindful walk in the woods.
