Mindfulness Walk in Swan Preserve

Sunday, April 12, was a magnificent spring day – blue sky, warm sun, new green growth emerging from trees and earth. It was a perfect day for a mindfulness walk. Between 20 and 30 outdoor enthusiasts and meditators turned out to sharpen their senses and see, hear, smell and feel the peaceful woods along Bedens brook wake up from the long cold winter. We started in the parking lot of the Rock Brook School and walked down Orchard Road, across the bridge on Opossum Road and into the Swan Preserve. We walked slowly and quietly and stopped here and there to notice the sound of wind and birds in the trees, the sound of leaves crunching under our feet and the gently burbling stream, the earthy smell of the path and fresh scent of the brook, the sight of new green buds on trees and the sun glinting on the water. We spent time exploring by the water’s edge, and just sitting in the stillness. Thanks so much to Maia Reim for her beautiful pictures.

  1. I’m sorry we missed this one. We took a hike through the Sourland Mountain Range with the Sourland Conservancy group and just didn’t make it back in time.
